UK Government Guidelines on BSL & Non spoken Languages
Non-Spoken Interpreting

The minimum level of qualification required for communicating with deaf and deafblind people will vary according to the needs of each individual customer organisation.

Customers will state at the time of booking if registration with NRCPD (or any other organisation) is a pre-requisite. Customer organisations will specify the minimum standards acceptable at the time of booking along with any minimum qualifications, skills, competence experience, and security clearance, (e.g. minimum typing speed of words per minute for palantypists).

  Level 4 NVQ in Interpreting (BSL/English) (INT4)
  Level 4 NVQ in BSL/ISL (BSN/ISN 4)
  Level 3 NVQ in BSL/ISL (BSN/ISN3)
  Level 3 Certificate in BSL/ISL (BSL3/ISL3)
  Level 2 Certificate in BSL/ISL (BSL2/ISL2)
  Level 1 Certificate in BSL/ISL (BSL1/ISL1)
       
  Communicating Through English    
  Level 2 Certificate in Communication with Deaf People (CDA2)
  Level 3 Certificate in Facilitating Communication with Deaf People (Lipspeaking Skills) (FLS3)
  Level 3 Certificate in Modifying Written English Texts for Deaf People (MET3)
  Level 3 Certificate in Facilitating Communication with Deaf People (Notetaking Skills) (FNT3)
  Level 3 Certificate for Language Service Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Lipspeaking) (LLS3)
  Level 3 Certificate for Language Service Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Notetaking) (LNT3)
